Comparison of Different OrderFlow Tools in Sierra Chart – Part 1

Orderflow Tools Comparison Part 1: This video demonstrates how (seemingly) different Orderflow tools look like – side-by-side. (Click here for Part 2)

You can compare how the following tools can be used to display the same price action on the thick 10yr German Bund futures market:

  • Bottom left chart: time-based 30min Footprint (Numbers Bars)
  • Bottom right chart: Non-time based 5-range Footprint (Numbers Bars)
  • Top chart: Heatmap chart – Historical Market Depth Graphs with Large Volume Trade Indicator
  • All three charts show the Chart DOM too.
  • Footprint charts are set to display diagonal imbalances between sellers and buyers (blue and orange coloring)

Pullback Trade example

From 6:00 see how selling was absorbed at 160.45-44 and the huge 1000+ resting buy limit order was filled. Then large buy orders hit the ask – completing the imbalance built at the bottom of the trading range (3/8). Price started to move up then relatively quickly.
